Primary role This person will design, develop, implement, and test functionality for applications and reports, working on all phases of a project, from inception to delivery. Work will include support and maintenance (bug fixes) of existing applications and reports, design and documentation of new report logic or application features, design and optimization of complex report queries, development of stored procedures (PL/SQL), database design, use and development of XSLT for report output formatting, unit testing of own development, and assistance in system and load testing of reports and application features.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to develop and enhance high performance, high quality, supportable and maintainable application functionality and reports in a team environment.
  • Develop code for application functionality and reports, utilizing ASP.Net, C#, JavaScript, XSLT, SQL and Oracle stored procedures.
  • Perform QA testing of application functionality and reports including Unit, System and Regression testing.
  • Analyze, develop and test fixes for bugs found in both production and pre-production versions of the application.
  • Assist Operations in supporting Business Intelligence and IS Production Applications and Environments.
  • Create functional and technical specifications for application functionality.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to constantly produce well designed and tested code.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and work with various technologies and products as dictated by business needs.
  • Ability to work independently on projects of moderate to broad scope.
  • Good understanding of life-cycle development methodologies
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Employee Benefits Industry is a plus.
  • Good programming practices and understanding of object-oriented design and development techniques.
  • Solid knowledge of web based applications and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of developing, debugging, and tuning SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Web Services, SOAP, XSLT, and XML.
  • Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Server, UNIX, and IIS, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing/Data Mart and Oracle Materialized Views is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WebTrends, CRM products and Visual Basic is a plus.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is required, with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Experience Recommended:
  • Procedures, HTML, and Scripting Languages.
  • Experience with ASP.Net, C#.
  • Experience with XSLT and XML, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle, preferred.
  • Experience developing reports or complex database queries, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with all phases of the Development Lifecycle, strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting production applications and databases, preferred.
  • Experience with Data Modeling, preferred.
